A guide based on LED bulbs of about 450–500 lumens each. Brighter bulbs light a larger room; warm, dimmer bulbs create more atmosphere.

With LED bulbs of about 450–500 lumens each (a 40 W equivalent), allow roughly one light for every 2–3 m² of floor: 10 lights for a 20–30 m² room, 15 for 30–45 m² and 21 for 40–60 m².

Over a table or island
Centre it over the table and keep the lowest globe 75–90 cm above the tabletop. The 2-light version works well in a row of two or three over a kitchen island or bar.

Ceiling height
Where people walk underneath, keep the lowest globe at least 2.1 m (7 ft) above the floor. On ceilings above 2.4 m, it can hang lower over a table for a more dramatic look.
