Plan the ceiling
Which size, and where.
Room centre
Add the room’s length and width in metres and multiply by 8 for a good diameter in cm. A 3.5 × 4 m room suits Ø 60 cm, a 4 × 4.5 m room Ø 70 cm and a 5 × 6 m living room Ø 90 cm.
Ø 60 · 70 · 90 cm · rooms of about 14–40 m²
Over a table
Choose a diameter of about two-thirds of the table’s width and hang the bottom 75–90 cm above the tabletop. Ø 60 cm suits a 90 cm-wide table, Ø 70 cm a 100–110 cm table, and Ø 90 cm a large round table of 130 cm or more.
Hang 75–90 cm above · ≈ ⅔ of table width
Ceiling height
The body is 56 cm tall, plus up to 30 cm of chain. Where people walk underneath, keep 2.1 m (7 ft) clear, so a ceiling of at least 2.7 m. On taller ceilings, add about 7.5 cm of drop for every 30 cm above 2.4 m.
